Contributes to several advisory committees for the New Zealand Ministry of Health including National Screening Advisory Committee; National Screening Unit — colorectal cancer screening committee; treatment prioritisation committee; and the Health Research Council (Cancer Control Committee) in addition to advising big pharma and biotechs from time to time. Member of grant review board for Genesis Oncology Trust.
Has an active interest in therapeutic clinical trials in Gastro-Intestinal Cancers — largely expressed as studies performed with the AGITG but including the Asia Pacific Hepatocellular Carcinoma Group and Cancer Trials NZ.
Currently holds position of Deputy—Chairman of the Board and filled the role of Acting Chairman for a period of 6 months in 2004. Has been supporter of the AGITG since 1994, a SAC member since 1996 and a Board member during and since its incorporation. Has been PI, co—PI and Investigator on a variety of clinical trials run by the AGITG — both local investigator-initiated and as a cooperative partner eg NSABP.
