Overview
The AGITG was initially established as an unincorporated association in 1991, and formed as a Company Limited by Guarantee in July 2000. The NHMRC Clinical Trials Centre, University of Sydney, is the co-ordinating centre for the group and is responsible for the co-ordination of AGITG clinical trials.
Since its inception, the AGITG has been instrumental in establishing networks of investigators capable of conducting multidisciplinary clinical research. In addition, the AGITG has established the necessary structures and processes to support the development and implementation of novel clinical research concepts. The aim is to facilitate the passage of experimental discoveries into state-of-the-art treatment by keeping to a minimum the time lapse between the discovery of new anti-cancer agents and the implementation of their therapeutic benefit for patients with cancer.
The AGITG is committed to excellence, innovation and leadership in meeting the health care needs of the people we serve, improving community health, and fostering the very best medical research.
