Structure
The AGITG works in collaboration with the NHMRC Clinical Trials Centre, a division of the University of Sydney. The AGITG office is located at the Medical Foundation Building, Camperdown, NSW.
Together, the AGITG and NHMRC Clinical Trials Centre co-ordinate and conduct clinical trials involving patients recruited at AGITG participating hospital sites across Australia, New Zealand, Singapore, United Kingdom and Hong Kong.
The AGITG comprises several key committees:
- The Board of Directors provide overall governance.
- The Scientific Advisory Committee is responsible for scientific review of new concepts and direction of expenditure of donations.
- The Operations Executive monitors trials and develop new studies.
- The Annual Scientific Meeting Organising Committee comprises several sub-committees: medical oncology, surgery, radiation oncology, biological research and study co-ordination.
These committees plan the annual meeting and ensure that we remain an important meeting for health professionals practising in the area of GI malignancy and clinical trials. - Trial Management Committees review issues such as recruitment, safety data and trial progression.
- The Finance Committee oversees the financial affairs of the Company.
- The Biological Research Committee works to incorporate biological research into AGITG studies.
- The Consumer Advisory Panel - who contribute ideas through a patients' perspective by reviewing new clinical trial concepts and protocols, assisting in identifying unmet needs and providing assistance in developing materials for patient information.
The AGITG is dependent upon the volunteerism and commitment that each committee member provides.
