Structure
The AGITG works in collaboration with the NHMRC Clinical Trials Centre, a division of the University of Sydney. The AGITG office is located at the NHMRC Clinical Trials Centre in Camperdown, NSW.
Together, the AGITG and NHMRC Clinical Trials Centre co-ordinate and conduct clinical trials involving patients recruited at AGITG participating hospital sites across Australia, New Zealand and Singapore.
The AGITG comprises several key committees:
- The Board of Directors provide overall governance.
- The Scientific Advisory Committee is responsible for scientific review of new concepts and direction of expenditure of donations.
- The Operations Executive monitors trials and develop new studies.
- The Annual Scientific Meeting Organising Committee comprises several sub-committees: medical oncology, surgery, radiation oncology, biological research and study co-ordination.
These committees plan the annual meeting and ensure that we remain an important meeting for health professionals practising in the area of GI malignancy and clinical trials. - Trial Management Committees review issues such as recruitment, safety data and trial progression.
- The Finance Committee oversees the financial affairs of the Company.
- The newly formed Biological Research Committee is working to incorporate biological research into AGITG studies.
The AGITG is dependent upon the volunteerism and commitment that each committee member provides.
