What is a clinical trial?
A clinical trial endeavours to answer particular scientific questions that will help determine how safe and effective a new cancer treatment or investigation is compared to the current standard of care. In effect, a clinical trial involves taking the best available treatment and/or practices and trying to improve them. This may involve using a new cancer drug, or a new form of surgery or radiation therapy. In some cases, clinical trials may investigate new combinations of a range of different treatments and therapies.
