Chairman's Message
Welcome to the Australasian Gastro-Intestinal Trials Group (AGITG). I hope you find our web site to be a valuable source of information and support. Our organisation is responsible for co-ordinating the research efforts of clinicians around Australia and New Zealand who wish to work together to prevent, treat and alleviate the suffering from gastro-intestinal cancers.
The AGITG is comprised of a diverse group of dedicated clinicians and researchers that conduct pioneering work in gastro-intestinal cancers trials. Our group has strong working relationships with a number of overseas trials groups - allowing Australian and New Zealand patients to obtain the latest international treatments as quickly as possible.
Clinical trials represent a partnership between clinicians and patients in the battle against cancer. Each new trial provides us with another discovery, another answer to a previously unknown question, and ultimately, increases the future potential of a cancer cure. It's a great honour to be involved with the AGITG and my privilege to be the current Chair of this vibrant organisation.
Professor John Zalcberg MBBS, PhD, FRACP
